Terms of Use
A note up front. Skubo is in beta and run by a small team in Gurgaon. These terms are written in plain English to set expectations between us, the schools that subscribe to Skubo, and the parents who use it. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer. We will keep refining this language as we learn from real usage.
1. The agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and SKUBO, the company behind Skubo, based in Gurugram, Haryana, India ("Skubo", "we", "us"). By installing the Skubo app, signing in with an OTP, joining the waitlist, or otherwise using skubo.app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you don't agree, please don't use Skubo.
2. Accounts & eligibility
- You must be 18 or older to create a Skubo account. Children do not create their own accounts; their records are created by their school and accessed through their parents.
- You sign in with a one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number or email. Keep your phone and email secure. Anyone with access to either can log in as you.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the information on your profile (name, contact details, relationship to your child).
- You're responsible for everything that happens under your account.
3. Schools subscribe, parents are free
Skubo's commercial model is simple:
- Schools subscribe to Skubo. The subscription terms (pricing, billing cycle, optional add-ons) are agreed separately between Skubo and each school.
- Parents install Skubo for free. There is no parent paywall, no subscription, no in-app purchase tied to using the app.
- If a school stops subscribing, parents may lose access to that school's data inside the app, but will keep their Skubo account and any other school they're linked to.
Schools onboard via a self-service wizard. School staff (owners, admins, teachers, security, bus coordinators) are added by the school's own admin and act on the school's behalf.
4. Content posted by schools
Most of what you see in Skubo as a parent (photos, attendance, observations, schedule entries, fee notices, gate-pass scans) is posted by your school's teachers and staff, not by Skubo.
- The school is responsible for what its staff post: accuracy, appropriateness, and the consents needed under Indian law to share children's photos and information.
- Skubo provides the platform. We do not pre-screen each photo, note or message before it reaches you.
- If you see something that shouldn't be there (wrong child tagged, inappropriate content, mistaken attendance), please raise it with the school first, and write to us at hello@skubo.app if it's not resolved.
- SkuboAI summaries are generated only from your school's own posted data for your child. They are best-effort summaries, not authoritative records, and should not replace direct conversation with the school.
5. Content posted by parents
When you send a chat message, RSVP to an event, or fill in your child's profile, you grant Skubo a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store and display that content for the purpose of running the service for you and your child's school.
You retain ownership of your content. We don't use it for advertising, training third-party models, or any purpose unrelated to delivering Skubo.
6. Acceptable use
Skubo is a quiet space for families and schools. Please don't use it to:
- Harass, threaten or abuse anyone: children, parents, teachers or staff.
- Post anything that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, hateful or otherwise harmful.
- Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your relationship to a child.
- Try to access data that isn't yours: another child's record, another parent's chat, another school's information.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the Skubo apps, website or back-end services.
- Use Skubo to send spam, phishing attempts, malware, or unsolicited commercial communications.
- Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit any part of Skubo without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate any account that breaks these rules, and may report serious abuse to the appropriate Indian authorities.
7. Payments & refunds
Where Skubo shows fee invoices raised by a school:
- Skubo does not process payments, does not integrate a payment gateway or aggregator, and never holds or moves parent funds. When you pay a fee invoice, Skubo hands off to your own UPI app to make the payment directly to the school, and you then mark the invoice as paid in Skubo.
- Because the payment happens in your own UPI app, that app's and your bank's own terms govern the transaction itself — Skubo is not a party to it and does not see your UPI credentials or bank details.
- The school is the ultimate recipient and is responsible for the underlying invoice: fee amount, what it covers, due dates and any refund policy. Refund requests should be made to the school in the first instance; Skubo has no funds to refund because it never held any.
- Subscription fees paid by a school to Skubo are governed by the separate subscription agreement between Skubo and that school.
8. Beta & service availability
Skubo is currently in beta. That means:
- Features may change, be added, or be removed without notice while we figure out what works best.
- We aim for high uptime but do not promise an uninterrupted, error-free service. Maintenance and occasional outages happen.
- Push notifications are best-effort: they depend on your device, your network, Apple's or Google's push infrastructure, and your notification preferences. Important time-sensitive matters (medical emergencies, urgent pickups) should always be confirmed by phone with the school.
9. Intellectual property
The Skubo name, logo, mascot, app design, source code and the SkuboAI prompts are owned by SKUBO. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works of any of it without our written permission.
Content posted by schools, teachers and parents belongs to whoever posted it. Skubo only holds the licence needed to display and store it for the service.
10. Disclaimers & liability
Skubo is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We do not warrant that Skubo will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure against every conceivable attack, or fit for any particular purpose beyond what we describe in the app and on this site.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of Skubo.
- Our total aggregate liability to you, in any 12-month period, for any cause connected with Skubo, is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in that period, or (b) ₹10,000.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Indian law.
11. Termination
You can stop using Skubo and delete your account at any time — by emailing admin@skubo.app from your registered contact details, or via "Delete account" in your profile in the latest app versions as it rolls out. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. See Delete Your Account for the full walkthrough, what's deleted, and what a school keeps (anonymised). If your account is the sole active owner of a school still using Skubo, we'll ask you to transfer ownership or contact us first, so the school isn't left without an admin.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your school stops subscribing, or if continuing to provide the service to you would expose Skubo or others to legal or safety risk. Where reasonable we'll give you notice and a chance to respond first.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (content licences for already-posted content, IP, liability limits, governing law) will survive.
12. Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of Skubo will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Gurugram, Haryana, India.
13. Changes to these terms
As Skubo grows, these Terms will change. When we make a meaningful change, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top, and, for material changes, write to the email on your account before the change takes effect. The current version is always at skubo.app/terms.html. If you continue using Skubo after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
